The Christmas story

The stories of the main characters that feature in the birth of Christ tell us much about the God we serve.

Take Joseph for example. Betrothed to Mary, they were as good as married. He was a honourable man and kept his wife despite having considerable confusion about the nature of her pregnancy.

We can only speculate what Joseph thought about this whole dilemma as nothing he actually said is recorded in the Bible (Matthew 1:18-24).

Maybe you too have been left speechless by some of the things you have been through this past year.

Then there is Zachariah and Elizabeth, Simeon, Anna, and of course Mary, to mention a few (Luke 1 & 2). All have different stories and various experiences. Not all were pleasant circumstances at the beginning.

The real point is this – we cannot judge God by our circumstances. God loves you despite your situation. Others may even condemn you and God may even disapprove of some of the things you have done.

But he still loves you and will not forsake you.

The real story of Christmas is that God loves you and cares. He is faithful and will see you through.

Remember, the story is about to get better.

Have a God wonderful Christmas and blessed 2012.
